The Recreational Corridor and greenway is the gateway to our recreational resources and will span an area roughly 30 miles in length from the City of Grants Pass through the cities of Rogue River and Gold Hill and on to Central Point where it will connect to the existing 20 miles of the Bear Creek Greenway . Upon completion this project will connect 8 Cities, 2 Counties, create over 50 miles of regional connectivity through Southern Oregon, provide economic, environmental, health, educational, air quality, transportation and safety benefits, improve the quality of life for the residents of Southern Oregon and provide a recreational resource for the many tourists that visit Southern Oregon every year.
The Rogue River Greenway Project is a joint collaboration including local citizens both urban and rural, Jackson and Josephine Counties, the Rogue Valley Council of Governments, the Cities of Rogue River, Gold Hill, Central Point and Grants Pass, State Parks, Oregon Dept. of Transportation and numerous local, State and Federal agencies. Establishing public/private partnerships to help build and maintain the many sections of the greenway and recreational corridor is key to its success as over 85% of the greenway will be located on public lands.
This project is viewed as a natural extension and enhancement of the existing Bear Creek Greenway facility. It will provide visitors and residents with a world class cycling and pedestrian experience. The Rogue River Recreational Corridor and Greenway will help showcase Southern Oregon’s abundance of natural resources including the scenic Rogue River.
