The Rogue River Greenway project and its companion fundraising event, Ride the Rogue, are important elements of an active and healthy lifestyle. Their existence invites everyone to enjoy nature through physical activity! I began my return to health journey when I was 54 years of age. At that time, I had a bicycle which I ignored until the first time I rode it on a greenway (Iowa). I completed a 5-mile ride and told others \u201cI can do this\u201d. I believe you can as well. I grew up in Southern Oregon, and some of my earliest bike rides were along the Medford section of the Rogue River Greenway. I still remember the sense of freedom and discovery riding with friends from Hawthorne to Bear Creek Park as a kid. Those early experiences shaped how I see active transportation today.<\/p>\n
As an adult, I\u2019ve become an avid bike commuter, with periods of my life where I relied almost exclusively on my bicycle to get around. There is something uniquely empowering about biking \u2014 no other mode of transportation quite matches its combination of speed, freedom, and connection to place.<\/p>\n
The Greenway has been a meaningful part of both my daily commutes and my recreational rides.
